I took the NeurOlympics assessment as part of a hiring process, and I must say I really enjoyed it!
One of the most fun but also stimulating mental challenges I have had to face in a while. Not only do their reports measure performance but also offer helpful tips on how to improve your productivity. Absolutely brilliant and insightful initiative, magnificently executed.
Loved it ???? challenging and just overal great game. I learn something new about my self.
A goal profile indicates which brain skills are required for the position for which you are recruiting. You can think of it as the optimal brain profile for the function.
The match indicates how well someone's brain skills suit their jobs. The better the match between brain and job, the happier and more productive someone is.
When a candidate has completed the games, you will receive a report containing a match score. The match score shows how well your candidate fits what you are looking for. The report explains how these scores can be expressed in behavior and attitude. Questions are also provided that can be asked when a candidate scores differently than the target profile on some brain skills.
Each game is about 10 to 15 minutes long, so expect the NeurOlympics to be 45 to 60 minutes in total.
The test is best done on laptop / desktop computers or fast tablets. The screen of telephones is unfortunately too small and has an adverse effect on the scores. Our games work on all modern browsers. However, we recommend that you always work with the latest versions of modern browsers such as Chrome and Firefox.
Color plays a role in the NeurOlympics. The games are designed in such a way that color blindness has the smallest possible effect. Color blindness, of course, comes in many shapes and sizes. You can use screenshots of the games to see if a candidate can distinguish the colors properly and thus play the games well.
You must be able to concentrate well for the entire period of the games. That's why we recommend that you play the games well rested and sit in a quiet place where you can work undisturbed for about 40 minutes.
No, and that is not necessary at all! You don't get better at the games if you've already played them once.
The games objectively measure the biological building blocks of our thinking. It is about how information comes to us, how we process that information and how we can act on it.
Traditional intelligence tests measure a general level of intelligence. You can only tell if someone is 'smart' in the traditional way. Sometimes this information is enough, but it has been found that it is not always a good prediction of what people can do. You can't really find the differences between people. Does someone act quickly, or methodically, for example. Both can score high on an IQ test, yet they function slightly differently. Depending on the context, one will perform better than the other. The NeurOlympics measure cognitive skills such as decisiveness, speed, anticipation, accuracy and concentration. All of these skills are of much greater importance than a classical measure of intelligence when it comes to selecting the right candidate.
The NeurOlympics have a high test-retest reliability. That means if you play the games again, you will get more or less the same results. Circumstances can influence the test, so if you slept badly you will not reach your own maximum. When you play the games under the right conditions you will always get a similar result.
The first explanation may be that the test hygiene was not good (e.g. not well rested, disturbed during the games, time of day, etc.). In addition, a candidate may have developed coping strategies in real life to deal with lower-scoring brain skills.
